Dining with the King (B B King that is).

After moving our luggage to our new room, unpacking and having a little rest, the weather cheered up a bit. We decided to venture once again towards Beale Street to get some tea. One of the nice things about this hotel is the free shuttle that it operates, this drops residents anywhere within a three mile radius of the hotel. When you are ready to return a phone call to the hotel will summon the driver.

When we arrived at Beale Street it was just beginning to liven up with the daytime crowd slowly beginning to be replaced by a more lively bunch. We decided to eat at BB Kings Blues Club which had a live band playing a selection of blues, rock and soul standards. We had a table on the balcony with a good view of the act.

For the meal I had a small set of ribs with sides of beans, slaw and fries, while Sylvia choose the chicken. Both were delicious and very filling and throughout the band played on.

With our appetites satisfied a walk was called for, firstly up Beale Street looking into some of the numerous touristy shops and stopping occassionally at suitable photo stops.

From the tourist part of Beale Street it is but a short walk down to the banks of the mighty Mississippi River which with all the recent storms was flowing high and fast.

This of course did not prevent us stopping to take a selfie ……

…….and other photos.

With the night drawing on we walked back along Main Street, where a tram runs throughtout the day.

We’ll see what the weather brings tomorrow before deciding our next adventure.
