Day Seven – Into the Arctic Circle.

At approximately 1.30am last night the ship passed over latitude 66 degrees North and therefore crossed into the Arctic Circle.

It was a bright morning when we got up but we quickly realised how cold it was when we walked up on deck. Not many people were taking advantage of the swimming pool when we took our morning stroll.

Sylvia wrapped up warm.

Today was a sea day as we are making our way to our most Northern port of call at Honningsvag. As always there is plenty going on around the ship but we enjoy the trivia mostly. There are two sets everyday, one in the morning and one at teatime run by different members of the entertainment staff. Oz from Honduras is our favourite as he has a good mix of questions from different genres with some easy and some very thoughtful. With upwards of fifty teams competing in each session, many of them in teams of up to six, it has been difficult to win too many of the quizzes. We have however managed to accumulate several notepads, a couple of wine stoppers and a Princess bag, so we haven’t come away empty handed.

The sun continued to shine all afternoon as I stood on the balcony looking for any signs of life.

I see no ships!!

It may be cold but the shorts are still on!!!

Tomorrow a ship’s excursion to the North Cape so more pictures and a longer blog (internet permitting).
